Douglas Rushkoff: Team Human (2019, W.W. Norton) No rating

Honestly I skimmed the last half of the book. This is written as an anti-tech manifesto with surface level arguments and little no footnotes to research backing any point the author is trying to make. Apparently the book is based on a podcast (had I but known) so maybe go listen to that instead of trying to get through this.

Cory Doctorow: Picks and Shovels (Hardcover, 2025, Tor Books)

*New York Times bestselling author Cory Doctorow returns to the world of Red Team Blues

A fitting origin story

Delving into Marty Hench's backstory was delightful and exhilarating. I thoroughly enjoyed following his meandering route to forensic accounting success while re-visiting the tech scene of the early 80's. I hope this isn't the last we see of Marty.

Bill Bryson: A Walk in the Woods (Paperback, 1998, Black Swan)

Bill Bryson describes his attempt to walk the Appalachian Trail with his friend "Stephen Katz". …

Immersive and Informative

Really great account of the ups and downs of long distance hiking both physical and emotional. Makes me want to grab the hiking boots and head outside.
