It's mesmerizing and a little confusing

Engaging read, enjoyed it! Sometimes the confusing vibe was just a bit too confusing for me to give it five stars, but I'd still recommend it! It was clear the book was intended to be a little confusing to capture the main character's own uncertainty about what was going on.
It's unclear where the book takes place and in what time period. Characters at a finishing school talk comfortably about electrons yet the main character doesn't know or use the term intersex to describe herself, favouring "freemartin" instead, which felt odd and out of place.
I'm guessing the main character had MRKH but it wasn't super clear (e.g. maybe CAIS instead?). Regardless it was appreciated, as always, to have a character who had a plausible intersex variation! And that it mattered to the story (her insecurity about being at a girls' school) without it feeling like an after-school …
